Aboriginal Affairs Ontario

As the government of Ontario we believe that we need to create a strong relationship with the First Nations people of Canada. As Canada faces these hard economic times, as well as some national health concerns, we believe that by building a strong partnership with its Aboriginal peoples, we can grow and be prosperous nation.
To achieve this Ontario would like federal funding to improve the living conditions of its Aboriginal peoples. Most First Nations people are living in poverty, most without adequate drinking water.  We would like to put money in the hands of trusted officials to improve the living standards on reserves who need it the most. H1N1 is a large fear to all Canadians. We need to make the vaccine more available for aboriginal people as well as improving their living standard. By doing so we will ensure that the vaccine is available for those who wish to take it and that the virus will be less likely to spread when clean drinking water and better conditions are available.

The youth are what shape our future. This is to be said for every Canadian nation wide, and especially our aboriginal peoples. Every Canadian deserves a bright future. Sadly suicide rates, depression, alcohol and drug abuse and teen pregnancy are high amongst Canada’s aboriginal peoples. Ontario would like federal funding to set up programs for these youth. The programs should be geared to the aboriginal people and should be taught by aboriginal people, to make it more appealing to the youth.
Ontario would like to acknowledge all land claims with its aboriginal people. We want to take every claim seriously and with the up most respect. However our main goal is to first improve the lives of those already living on reserve land before settling more land claims. By working together we can shape our ever growing nation into a beautiful Canada.  The aboriginal peoples of Canada are the fastest growing population, and by working together we will all have the same bright future for all our children.
